The P-80 Shooting Star was America's first operational jet fighter. Developed in 1944 and 1945, the P-80 Shooting Star arrived just a bit too late to see action in World War 2 however the airplane was used during the Korean War. The type is widely credited as the victor in the first jet vs jet engagement when the P-80 flown by 1st Lt. Russell Brown shot down a MIG 15. Our print is a tribute to the Shooting Star and the depiction features an aircraft in the markings of 1st Lt. Brown's airplane making a high speed pass over the world's largest compass rose located on Rodgers Dry Lake at Edwards AFB.
