First fielded in 1962, the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier was the most widely used armored vehicle of the Vietnam war. The M113 is only lightly armored to provide protection against small arms fire. The vehicle proved highly adaptable such as the Armored Cavalry (ACAV) version depicted here featuring a .50 cal machine gun turret, 2 M60 machine guns in rear positions and additional belly armor. They were heavily used for reconnaissance in force and search and destroy missions. The M113 has a crew of 2 and can carry up to 11 troops.
