Introduced in 1972, the Matra-Simca MS670 was a Group 5 Prototype race car. The type was powered by a Model MS73, V12 (60º) cylinder engine producing 490 BHP. The small displacement, high revving engine produced a distinctive sound. The MS670C only made one appearance in 1972 - it was at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There were four MS670 entered in the race and the car driven by Henri Pescarolo and Graham Hill won the race that year. The type won Le Mans again in 1973 and 1974. It also won the World Sportscar Championship for both of those years. The subject of this artwork is the 1972 Le Mans winning machine.
